Step 1: Start With Freshly Washed Hair
Make sure that your hair and scalp is clean and ready to style by washing your hair. Use Swish, our Sulphate-free Shampoo for gentle cleansing that doesn’t strip your hair of moisture. Then follow up with Swirl, our Silicone-free Conditioner to deliver moisture to your freshly cleansed hair and make detangling easier.
Start 2: Moisture Your Hair Using The LOC Method
Now it’s time to moisturise your hair with the LOC/LCO method. Start by spraying Sheen. Our hydrating hairspray is perfect for moisturising your hair and helps with detangling.
Next, we apply our moisturising hair cream, Smooth and then lock in our moisture with a couple of pump of our moisture-locking hair oil, Seal.
Editor’s Tip: You can get all the products you need (Sheen, Smooth and Seal) in our Moisture Surge Set.
Step 3: Part Hair Where You'd Like Your Hair To Fall
Grab a comb or rattail comb to gently part your hair. Whether you pick a side or a middle parting – it’s totally up to you!
Step 4: Section Your Hair
Grab your Afrocenchix Essential Accessories Pack and use your clips and hairbands to secure your sections of hair. This will make creating your twists easier. To create the sections for your twist, you can use your fingers or more precise sectioning, you can use a comb.
Step 5: Twist The Hair In Small Sections Holding It Taut As You Go
Divide your small section of hair into two sections, hold the hair haunt and twist.
Step 6. Work through sections until all hair is twisted
Repeat step 5 until you’ve twisted all of your hair.
Step 7. Your Twists Are Done!
Now you’re created your twists, it’s time to let them do their work. We recommend keeping twists in for at least one night for best definition and wearing a satin scarf or bonnet to make sure your hair doesn’t get too frizzy.
Editor’s Tip: Don’t worry if you can’t leave your twists in overnight, a few hours will still create a good twist out hairstyle.
Step 8: Oil Hands And Gently Unravel Twists
Grab your bottle of Soothe and coat your fingers with the lightweight oil before unravelling your twists. This will provide some slip and mean that your twists will remain defined and not frizzy.
Step 9: Create More Volume
Gently Run Fingers Through Strands For More Volume. You can even use an afro pick or wide tooth comb to create volume at the root. Use your hands and gently fluff and shape your natural hair, and your twist out is complete!
