- For more definition, why not do a twist out or braid out before doing your puff. This hairstyle also works if your twist out or braid out didn’t go according to plan and you want a style that will save the day.
- When styling your hair in a puff, remember to be gentle when pulling your hair back so that you don't damage your edges.

How To Do a Puff On Natural Hair: Classic Puff
- Gently, comb or brush the edges of your hair.
- Cut an elasticated headband in half, place it around your head and tie it at the front.
- Slowly tighten the headband by pulling the ends, but just make sure it’s not too tight!
- Secure the headband by tying it again and tucking in the ends.
- Fluff out your classic puff and you’re done!
How To Do a Puff On Natural Hair: Puff With Two Twists
- Grab your rattail comb and use the end of the comb to create a central parting for your two twists at the front of your head.
- Divide the section of hair into two and gently twist to create a two-strand twist.
- Repeat step 2 on the other section of hair. You should now have two twists at the front of your head.
- Cut an elasticated headband in half, place it around your head and tie it at the front.
- Slowly tighten the headband by pulling the ends, adjusting your front twists so they sit nicely.
- Secure the headband by tying it again and tucking in the ends.
- Finally, fluff out your puff and your pretty puff with twists is done!
How To Do a Puff On Natural Hair: Puff With Criss-cross Twists
- Grab your rattail comb and use the end of the comb to create a central parting for your two twists at the front of your head.
- Divide the section of hair into two and gently twist to create a two-strand twist.
- Repeat step 2 on the other section of hair. You should now have two twists at the front of your head.
- Cut an elasticated headband in half, place it around your head and tie it at the front.
- Slowly tighten the headband by pulling the ends, excluding the twists.
- Secure the headband by tying it again and tucking in the ends.
- Then take your two twists, criss cross them and tuck them into your puff, gently pulling them to tighten. If you find your hair is a little too short to do this, grab some bobby pins to secure the twists in place.
- Don’t forget to fluff out your puff and your cute criss-cross twist puff is complete!
