Hi, I'm Lydia Fray, Manufacturing and Research and Development Intern at Afrocenchix. My role entails formulating and conducting research for the development of both pre-existing and new products to be launched.
Tell us about yourself.
I am of Jamaican, Indian and Trinidadian Heritage. My hair is thick and curly and I have always been natural. While I was born and bred in Sheffield, I am currently studying in London while completing my MSc Cosmetic Science course at London College of Fashion at The University of the Arts London.
What are your hobbies?
I am currently on my year in industry at the company before my return to university to complete a master's degree in Cosmetic Science.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my friends and family, as well as science!
Tell us what motivates you to do what you do here?
What motivates me is that I am a part of the bigger picture in providing, encouraging, inspiring and uplifting my community by formulating hair care products that showcase natural hair. I am motivated to make positive scientific contributions to my field and in turn my community by helping the the cosmetic industry become more ethical and inclusive.
What's your favourite Afrocenchix product and why?
My favourite Afrocenchix product is Soothe. I love how it maintains a healthy scalp with frequent use. I enjoy it's a multifunctional and great for both the scalp, nails and cuticles. It is also great as a pre-poo!!
