New Hair, Who dis?

What better time to switch up your look than the new year! January is a great time to embrace healthy beauty choices and invest in quality natural ingredients that will help you to feel as good as you look. With 60% of what we put onto our body being absorbed into our blood stream it's important to carefully select our cosmetics.

While we agree that you don't need to wait for a new year to make a change, a new year brings with it motivation. If you've decided to stop relaxing or straightening your hair with heat then keep reading.

You can return to your roots by:

1. Transitioning

If you want to retain length then you may want to grow your natural hair whilst gradually cutting off your relaxed/heat damaged hair. During your transition it's important to handle your hair with extreme care as it is very fragile — especially at the point where the natural and relaxed parts meet. Be sure to avoid heat; bantu knot-outs and flexi rod sets are great at blending the two textures.

Hair prep. Bantu knots are great for creating the illusion of more volume.

Moving from straight hair to textured tresses can be a shock to the system. As such, protective styling with a wig or braided/twisted extensions that match your natural hair texture is a great way to get used to your natural hair. Be sure to care for your hair underneath with our protective style set.

2. The Big Chop

This involves cutting all relaxed/heat damaged hair off usually leaving behind a TWA (teeny weeny afro).

As you grow your hair out be sure to enjoy every stage. Accessorise with earrings, hair bands or opt for getting your afro shaped.

Fresh cut 💫

3. Choosing natural products

As mentioned above, 60% of what we put into our body is absorbed into our blood stream. That is a staggering percentage, yet often, little care goes into the ingredients used in most cosmetics- especially cosmetics marketed to black women. Natural products are safer to use and can often be more effective when it comes to maintaining natural hair healthy.

Our products are thoughtfully formulated with health and hair hydration in mind.  Silicones, parabens, sulphates and artificial fragrances can cause irritation, so we don't use them.

You'll find only the best natural ingredients in all our products and The Newly Natural Set is a great place to start.
