We’re delighted to announce the appointment of two new directors to our Board following our AGM.
Both appointees have a wealth of incredible experience. Their backgrounds in business, global FMCG and business, provide an impressive range of expertise which will help them in guiding Afrocenchix towards our strategic aims. It’s an honour to have them join the company.
Learie Attzs has extensive leadership experiences in supply chains, procurement, engineering and technology obtained through a career spanning over 35 years in senior positions in leading global FMCG and chemical companies. Most recently, he was Vice President Engineering for the European Supply Chain of Ecolab Inc. Amongst his portfolio of activities, he is an Ambassador for the Institute of Directors with a specific emphasis on promoting and maximising value creation from small and medium sized enterprises.
“I am pleased to join the Afrocenchix Board. The company has a unique position in the personal care market and has made great strides since its inception. I look forward to working with my board colleagues in successfully navigating the business through the next stage of its development.” – Learie Attzs.
With a career spanning almost 20 years, Justin Onuekwusi is a senior multi-asset fund manager at Legal & General Investment Management. He sits within a team that is responsible for managing over £60bn and leading on the management of LGIM’s award-winning Multi-Index Funds.
He has featured on the 2021, 2020 and 2019 EMpower Senior Executive Leaders List, was a winner of the Invest in Ethnicity Awards Future Leaders Award in 2018 and was named in the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000 most influential people in London. Justin was a finalist in the 2019 Black British Business Awards and in 2020 was awarded the honour of the Freedom of the City of London. Justin has also been appointed as the Chair of the newly set up board at Afrocenchix.
“After working with the Afrocenchix team for many years it’s a real honour to be appointed Chair of the newly set up board. Afrocenchix has filled an important gap in the market providing high quality, natural products for Afro hair and curly hair that many people have spent many years calling out for. It has been wonderful to watch how the Afrocenchix team have brilliantly navigated the challenges of setting up a new business, and grown into a household name. I look forward to working with them as they continue to scale, grow and succeed even more!” – Justin Onuekwusi.
Joycelyn and I are pleased to have such brilliant Directors join the team. Beyond their extensive resumes, Justin and Learie bring a high level of character and integrity to their appointments, something that was important to us as founders. Together, we’ll be able to achieve even greater things for our customers and community. Whilst the next step for our pioneering team is to grow our board and establish an even stronger level of governance, Justin and Learie have set a high bar. We’ve every confidence that our new appointees will help to strengthen our leadership, manage risk, and achieve lasting success for Afrocenchix.
