We all remember the days of having to sit still whilst mum or grandma did our hair. Yet as we get older it can be so easy to forget some of the cute, neat and sometimes even stylish hairdos that we would have as children. In this blog we’ll give you six styles that work well for school. Here are some incredibly cute, neat and even stylish hairstyles that are perfect for children. Or the styles can also be used for simple inspiration when doing your child's hair.

Twists

The great thing is that twists are as simple as they sound: you achieve the style by twisting two strands of hair together. They're cute and as long as they are covered each night, they'll stay neat through the school week.

It's easier to do if the hair is sectioned into boxes big enough that when the hair is twisted it makes twists about a pencil size in width.

Bundled twists

If your cherub gets bored with their hair being in twists all week, you can always jazz them up a little. Just grab a couple of seamless hair bands and bundle 3-4 of the twists up to make a trendy new style. Add colourful accessories for extra style!

Bantu knots

This is definitely a throw back, most of my Saturday evenings were taken up with being asked to tilt my head further, so my mom could catch the hair properly.

For this style it's easiest to start with a twist as described above. Once the twist is complete, twist until there is tension in the hair and wrap it around the first part of the twist on the scalp.

Plaits

Always a winner. It can be as simple as 4 big plaits or more of you so wish. These can also be kept neat when the hair is covered each night and the scalp is kept moisturised. We recommend a Satin Bonnet to keep in moisture and prevent breakage.

Cornrow

Cornrows are braids that are plaited very close to the scalp, they are also an amazing protective style, meaning that in all weather conditions they help maintain healthy hair and steady growth.

Bun

Buns, are always fun for Afro hair due to its natural bounce. This is an especially cute look for children. Whether it’s a neater bun where the ends are tucked under, or a bun where the hair is left out – the bun is always a cute and fun look for your child.
